The Caribbean is a region of island hopping, beaches, music, and relaxed travel. It is one of the easiest parts of the world logistically, but each island has its own identity, culture, and rhythm. For country catchers, it offers quick wins and very different experiences in a small space.

Jamaica, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic are the most well-known catches, each offering a strong identity. Smaller islands like Barbados, Grenada, and Saint Lucia are ideal for quick, unique catches. The region is perfect for combining multiple countries in one trip.

🇦🇬 Antigua – Is known for its beautiful beaches and calm turquoise waters.
Hand2 Famed for cricket as well as the amazing beaches. Good direct access from London. Try the Shirley Heights party on a sunday for some local culture and fun on the beach

🇧🇸 Bahamas – Offers hundreds of islands with white sand beaches and clear seas.
Hand2 Many luxury hotels as well as cheaper alternatives. There are many islands to choose from. Pig Beach is a real highlight and is located on Big Major Cay in the Exumas. Most visitors reach the island by boat from nearby locations like Great Exuma, Staniel Cay, or Nassau.

🇧🇧 Barbados – Blends British heritage with Caribbean warmth. It is popular for both luxury and laid back travel.
Hand2 Most luxury travellers stick to the West Coast but Worthing is a good place to stay on the south coast and close to everything. Do try to catch the cricket museum even if you are not an avid fan. Oistins fish market is popular but a little touristy.

🇨🇺 Cuba – Feels unlike anywhere else in the Caribbean. Vintage cities, strong music culture, and deep history give it a powerful atmosphere.
Hand2 Truly unique and remains heavily controlled. Take USD cash and also some small gifts such as soap and socks to give locals which they will really appreciate. Try to ask a local to cook for you in their homes which they might do and is a wonderful experience. Havana has a lot of culture and history. Small planes can take you around the island but can be cancelled at short notice.

🇩🇴 Dominican Republic – Long beaches, mountain landscapes, and lively cities give it wide appeal. It offers both resort and cultural travel.
Hand2 Big package holiday destination. Many incredible becahes. Santo Domingo has many cultural sites around the old town with interesting architecture. Direct flights possible but can be sometimes much cheaper when booked as part of a package.

🇬🇩 Grenada – It is known as the spice island and has beautiful beaches and rainforests.
Hand2 Go on a spice tour. Good Chinese food as well as local. Very small and easy to get around. Catch a cricket match if you can. Two big stadiums on the island. Many rum punch parties in the evenings.

🇭🇹 Haiti – French speaking with Art, music, and local life being deeply rooted here.
Hand2 Sadly uncatchable at the moment and without a functioning government for many years.

🇯🇲 Jamaica – Is famous for its music, food, and warm personality. Beaches, mountains, and lively towns give it broad appeal.
Hand2 Real mix of lively cities and pristine beaches. Travelling around can be done by bus but better with some sort of private car if you can. Many outdoor activities such as ziplines, water sports and hiking. Bob Marley museum in Kingston. Running in Kingston – where the fastest people on earth train. Try jerk chicken on the streets. Avoid the hash cakes!

🇰🇳 St Kitts – Sugar plantation history and volcanic landscapes shape the island.
Hand2 Many amazing beaches such as Frigate and Cockleshell. Good hiking inland and also has the Brimstone Hill Fortress, which is the Caribbean’s largest and most impressive.

🇱🇨 St Lucia – Known for its dramatic peaks and lush scenery.
Hand2 Direct flights from London and many package holiday options. The pitons are the site to catch so ensure they are part of your itinerary. Gros Islet Friday night party are a great way to meet locals and sample the food and culture.

🇹🇹 Trinidad and Tobago – Perfect mix of big city (Trinidad) and beach (Tobago.)
Hand2 Not your standard island! Trinidad feels more like South America. Taxis are very hard to find so be prepared and book in advance. Similarly, not that many restaurants within walking distance so do plan and avoid secluded areas at night. The Hyatt hotel has great dishes if you fancy it. The market and downtown areas are lively and provide a good blend of the island’s culture. Tobago is more about beach.
