Hey I am Rich, and I created Country Catching with my son Alex for curious travellers like us.
The idea began during a short trip to Algeria. While visiting the incredible Roman ruins of Djemila, I met a group of Indian tourists who told me they were “country catching.” I smiled because that was exactly what I had been doing for years. And just like that, the idea was born.
Country catchers do not follow the crowd.
We are curious travellers who seek out new countries, new destinations and new experiences in our own way.
When I was a child, I used to fall asleep reading an atlas. On the Africa page, I drew a route from north to south and dreamed of travelling it one day.
Before work, children and adult life took over, I completed that journey. The curiosity that started back then never left and I have now travelled to more than 100 countries.
In addition, years working in travel has taken me to places most guidebooks skip, and along the way I built friendships with locals who still tell me what’s really going on.
