Mexico

Mexico is a vibrant and diverse country, where ancient civilisations, colourful colonial towns and stunning coastlines combine with dramatic mountains, deserts and tropical jungles. Rich in history, culture and world-renowned cuisine, Mexico offers an incredible variety of experiences, from bustling cities and archaeological wonders to idyllic beaches and charming villages.

  • Tap water is generally not considered safe to drink. Stick to bottled or filtered water, including when brushing your teeth if you’re unsure.
  • Mexico is a vast country, and travelling between major destinations can take much longer than expected. Domestic flights are often the quickest option for longer journeys.
  • The climate varies greatly by region. Coastal areas are typically hot and humid, while cities at higher elevations, such as Mexico City, enjoy much milder temperatures throughout the year.
  • While many tourist areas accept card payments, carrying some Mexican pesos is useful for markets, street food and smaller local businesses.
