Spain

Spain is one of Europe’s most diverse countries, where vibrant cities, historic towns, spectacular coastlines and rugged mountain landscapes combine to create an extraordinary variety of experiences. Rich in history, culture and tradition, each region has its own distinctive character, with unique customs, cuisine and, in many areas, regional languages, from the Mediterranean beaches of the east and the green hills of the north to the sun-drenched landscapes of Andalusia.

  • Spain’s regions each have their own distinct traditions, cuisine and culture, making every part of the country feel unique. Language varies too, so try some Galician in the North West and of course Catalan in Barcelona.
  • The country has one of Europe’s largest high-speed rail networks, making trains one of the quickest and most convenient ways to travel between major cities. Madrid to Seville is just over 2 hours with speeds upto 300ks per hour!
  • Meal times are often later than in many other countries, with dinner commonly served from around 9:00 pm onwards, particularly during the summer months.
  • Spain enjoys a varied climate, from the warm Mediterranean coast to the cooler northern regions and mountainous interior, so pack according to your itinerary. Forest fires can be a problem in the summer but are unpredictable.
